1. SPONSOR
The GENEWIZ University Contest (“Promotion” or “Contest”) is sponsored by GENEWIZ UK Ltd, Hope End, Takeley, Essex, United Kingdom, CM22 6TA and GENEWIZ GmbH, Bahnhofstr. 86, 04158, Leipzig, Germany. GENEWIZ GmbH shall serve as the Contest administrator and shall coordinate judging, communications, winner selection, and contest administration on behalf of Sponsors
2. PROMOTION PERIOD
The Promotion begins on 17th July, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. (CET) and ends on September 18, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. (CET). Sponsor’s timekeeping system is the official time-keeping device for this Promotion, and Sponsor shall have sole discretion in determining the timeliness of any actions or inactions related to the Promotion.
3. ELIGIBILITY
a. Promotion is open only to at the time of entry, legal residents of the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area (excluding Italy and Spain), and Switzerland, who are eighteen (18) years or older, or the age of majority in their state or country of residence, whichever is higher, at the time or entry, and who are professionally engaged in scientific or research activities.
b. The following individuals are not eligible to participate in the Promotion: (i) Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives and independent contractors of a Sponsor, its subsidiaries or affiliated companies (“Affiliates”), together with their immediate family members and members of the same households (whether related or not) are not eligible to participate; (ii) residents of Russia Belarus, Italy and Spain or any country subject to U.S. embargo; (iii) Persons appearing on any denied-party, sanctions, export-control, or restricted-party list maintained by any applicable governmental authority.
c. Institutional Compliance. By entering, each participant represents that participation in the Promotion and acceptance of any prize complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and the policies of the participant's employer, institution, governmental agency, university, healthcare organization, or other affiliated organization. Participants are solely responsible for obtaining any required approvals, and Sponsors may require proof of such compliance before awarding a prize.
d. Compliance Right of Sponsors. Sponsors reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to: screen any potential winner against applicable government restricted party and sanctions lists prior to awarding any award; require reasonable certifications from a potential winner confirming eligibility under this Section 3; and disqualify and select an alternate winner if any entrant or potential winner is determined to be ineligible under this Section 3, in each case without liability to the entrant.
4. HOW TO ENTER
a. ONLINE ENTRY ONLY. No other method of entry will be accepted. Limit one (1) entry per person and per email address during the Promotion Period. Any additional entries submitted will be void.
b. To enter, an eligible entrant must visit https://web.genewiz.com/europe/genewiz-week/giveaways, (“Website”) during the Promotion Period and submit one complete entry (“Entry”). Each Entry must include:
i. entrant information: full name, email address, country of residence, institution/company, job title, and any other information reasonably required to administer the Promotion;
ii. responses to one of the two Contest questions specified below; and
iii. entrant certifications confirming eligibility, accuracy of information, authority to submit the Entry, compliance with employer/institutional obligations, and agreement to these Official Rules.
Contest questions:
1. If you could solve one scientific mystery in your lifetime, what would it be and why? (Let us know your dream project and why you would like to carry out this research)
2. What discovery are you chasing that could change the world? (What excites you about your research? Let us know the impact your work will have on the world)
Recommended word limit: 200 words per response. Entries should not include confidential, proprietary, export-controlled, sensitive personal, patient, clinical, unpublished, third-party, or restricted information.
c. An Entry will be disqualified if it:
i. is submitted after the Promotion Period;
ii. is incomplete, illegible, corrupted, inaccurate, or contains false or misleading information;
iii. does not substantially address the Promotion theme or Contest questions;
iv. does not demonstrate sufficient skill, creativity, judgment, or thoughtfulness to be evaluated under the judging criteria;
v. infringes or misappropriates any intellectual property, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, contractual, employment, grant, publication, or other right;
vi. contains confidential, proprietary, person, export-controlled or otherwise restricted information, sensitive personal, patient, unlawful, offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, or inappropriate material;
vii. violates applicable law, regulation, employer policy, institutional policy, funding requirement, ethics rule, procurement restriction, or these Official Rules;
viii. is generated or submitted through automated, fraudulent, deceptive, or improper means; or
ix. otherwise compromises the fairness, integrity, administration, or reputation of the Contest.
Only Entries that satisfy all requirements will be submitted for judging.
5. SELECTION OF WINNERS
a. Judges; Judging Criteria. All eligible Entries will be reviewed by a panel of qualified judges selected by Sponsor (the “Judges”). Judges may include scientific, technical, marketing, business, or other qualified personnel selected by Sponsor. Judges must evaluate Entries solely according to the published criteria below and may not consider purchasing history, sales potential, existing customer relationship, geographic location, institution prestige, personal relationships, popularity, or any other non-published factor.

Each criterion will be scored independently. The ten (10) highest-scoring eligible Entries will be selected as potential winners, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules.
b. Tie-Breaking Procedure. If two or more Entries receive the same total score, the Entry receiving the higher Ability to Inspire score will be ranked higher. If a tie remains, the Entry receiving the higher Scientific Interest score will be ranked higher. If a tie remains, the tied Entries will be re-evaluated by the judging panel using the published judging criteria. Under no circumstances will a winner be selected by random drawing or other chance-based mechanism Judges’ decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to judging, scoring, ranking, and winner selection, subject to applicable law.
6. WINNER NOTIFICATION
a. Each potential winner will be notified using the email provided with the Entry. Sponsor shall have no obligation to send multiple notifications.
b. Potential winners must respond to the notification email within three (3) business of the notification and must timely complete and return any requested information within forty-eight (48) hours of the request. Sponsor may require winners to complete eligibility, compliance, publicity, tax or other applicable documents before receiving a prize.
c. A potential winner may be disqualified and forfeit the Award if: the notification is returned undeliverable; the potential winner fails to respond within the required time period; the potential winner declines the Award; the potential winner fails to provide requested documentation; the potential winner is determined to be ineligible; or Sponsor reasonably determines that awarding the prize would violate applicable law, sanctions restrictions, ethics requirements; employer or institutional policies, or these Official Rules.
d. In the event of a forfeiture or disqualification, Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate winner, in accordance with the winner selection process above.
7. PRIZE
Ten (10) verified winners will each receive a limited edition GENEWIZ Week Guardians of the Genome trading cards 10 pack and one GENEWIZ Week t-shirt. Approximate retail value (“ARV”) of each prize package: £15.00 ( 17.59 €) . Total ARV of all prizes: £150.00 (175.93 €)
Prizes are promotional items only. Prizes are not transferable, may not be assigned, and may not be redeemed for cash except where required by law. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if a stated prize is unavailable. Any taxes, duties, fees, charges, or expenses associated with prize acceptance or use are the sole responsibility of the winner, except where Sponsor is required by applicable law to withhold or remit taxes.
Sponsor makes no representation, warranty, or guarantee regarding the appearance, safety, performance, quality, or fitness for purpose of any prize, except to the extent such warranty cannot be excluded by applicable law.
8. DATA PROTECTION; PUBLICITY
a. Sponsors and its affiliates and service providers may collect, use, store, transfer, and otherwise process personal data submitted in connection with the Contest for purposes of administering the Promotion, verifying eligibility, selecting and notifying winners, fulfilling prizes, maintaining records, complying with legal obligations, and protecting Sponsors’ rights and the integrity of the Promotion.
b. Personal data will be processed in accordance with Sponsors’ Privacy Policy: https://www.genewiz.com/en/Public/Company/Policies/Privacy-Policy. Entrants may have rights under applicable data-protection laws, including rights to access, correct, delete, object to, restrict, or request portability of personal data, subject to applicable limitations.
c. Participation in the Promotion is not conditioned on consenting to receive marketing communications. Any marketing consent must be optional, separate from entry into the Promotion, and may be withdrawn at any time without affecting eligibility, except that Sponsor must still be able to contact potential winners for Promotion administration.
d. Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a prize constitutes the winner's consent to Sponsor's use of the winner's name, professional title, country of residence, institution or employer name, submission title, and statements relating to the Contest for publicity, promotional, educational, and marketing purposes relating to the Contest, without additional compensation.
9. PUBLICITY
a. By submitting an Entry, each entrant acknowledges and agrees that, if selected as a winner, Sponsor may announce the winner's name, professional title, country of residence, institution or employer name, and submission title in connection with administration and publicity relating to the Contest.
b. Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a prize constitutes the winner's consent to Sponsor's use of the winner's name, professional title, country of residence, institution or employer name, submission title, and statements relating to the Contest for publicity, promotional, educational, and marketing purposes relating to the Contest, without additional compensation.
c. Where consent is required by applicable law, Sponsor may request additional written consent from a potential winner before publishing such information.
10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AND ENTRY RIGHTS
a. Entrant retains ownership of the Entry, subject to the rights granted in these Official Rules. By submitting an Entry, entrant grants Sponsor and its affiliates an exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, display, publish, distribute, edit, adapt, and create derivative works from the Entry solely for purposes of administering, judging, promoting, and publicizing the Contest and Sponsor’s related scientific and educational marketing activities, subject to applicable law and Sponsor’s Privacy Policy.
b. Entrant represents and warrants that the Entry is original to entrant or used with all required permissions; does not infringe or misappropriate any third-party right; does not contain confidential, proprietary, export-controlled, patient, clinical, sensitive personal, or restricted information; and may be submitted and used as contemplated by these Official Rules without violating any law, obligation, employer policy, institutional policy, grant condition, publication restriction, or contractual duty. Entrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Sponsors from third-party claims arising from breach of these representations.
11. SPONSOR'S RIGHTS AND DECISIONS
Sponsor reserves the right to verify eligibility, investigate potential violations of these Official Rules, disqualify any entrant who violates or attempts to interfere with the administration of the Contest, and refuse or revoke a prize where Sponsor reasonably determines that awarding the prize could violate applicable law, sanctions regulations, export-control laws, anti-corruption rules, institutional policies, ethics rules, procurement requirements, funding restrictions, or other legal restrictions. All decisions of Sponsor and the Judges regarding eligibility, compliance, judging, scoring, administration, and winner selection are final and binding, subject to applicable law.
12. MISCELLANEOUS
a. Release of Liability. By participating in the Promotion, each entrant agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsors, their affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives (collectively, the "Released Parties") from and against any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising out of or relating to: participation in the Promotion; acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize; any acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize; any technical, administrative, or human error relating to the Promotion; or any dispute regarding eligibility, judging, scoring, winner selection, or prize award, except to the extent resulting from the gross negligence or willful misconduct of a Released Party.
b. Limitation of Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Released Parties shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to the Promotion or any prize. Sponsor's aggregate liability arising from or relating to the Promotion shall not exceed the value of the prize at issue.
c. Suspension, Modification, Cancellation or Termination. The Sponsor reserves the right to suspend, modify, cancel or terminate the Promotion without advance notice, including, without limitation, in the event of any act, occurrence or reason that it believes would compromise the legality, integrity, administration or fairness of the Promotion.
Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, cancel, or terminate the Promotion, in whole or in part, if Sponsor determines that any event, circumstance, or occurrence impairs or is likely to impair the proper administration, security, fairness, integrity, or operation of the Promotion, including, without limitation, fraud, misconduct, or unauthorized intervention; technical, software, hardware, network, website, platform, or communications failures; computer viruses, malware, cyberattacks, or other security incidents; errors in the administration of the Promotion; force majeure events, including acts of God, natural disasters, severe weather, epidemic, pandemic, public health emergency, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor disputes, utility failures, or governmental actions; actual or potential violations of applicable laws, regulations, or regulatory guidance; or any other event beyond Sponsor's reasonable control.
In the event of any such occurrence, Sponsor may take such action as Sponsor determines to be fair, reasonable, and appropriate under the circumstances, including extending deadlines, modifying Promotion procedures, suspending the Promotion, canceling the Promotion, or selecting winners from among eligible entries received prior to the occurrence using the judging criteria set forth in these Official Rules.
Sponsor's decisions regarding the administration, modification, suspension, cancellation, termination, and continuation of the Promotion shall be final and binding.
d. Severability. If one or more provisions of these official rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall be valid and enforceable.
e. Governing Law. These Official Rules are governed and shall be construed by the laws of England and Wales for entrants located in the United Kingdom, and the laws of Germany for all others, without regard to conflict of law provisions thereof. Nothing in these Official Rules limits mandatory consumer protections or rights available under the laws of an entrant’s country of residence. To the fullest extent permitted by law, disputes must be resolved on an individual basis and not as part of a class, collective, representative, or consolidated action.
f. Winner List. Sponsors may publish or make available the first name, last initial, country, and/or institution/company of verified winners, subject to applicable law, Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, and any legally required consent or objection rights.
