DAVID BUCK

David Buck brings over thirty years of experience in genomics and molecular biology, with a career dedicated to advancing DNA sequencing technologies and high-throughput platforms. He has led operations at GENEWIZ Oxford for over two years, driving innovation and ensuring the highest standards of quality and data integrity. Previously, David played a key role at the Oxford Genomics Centre, where he oversaw large-scale sequencing programs and implemented cutting-edge methodologies to accelerate research. His leadership combines deep technical expertise with a commitment to empowering teams and delivering world-class genomic solutions

Angie Lorrison

ANGIE LORRISON

Angie Lorrison, UK Operations Manager, brings over twenty years of expertise in the molecular genetics field. Her journey includes significant roles at Oxford University, where she managed Sequenom Sequencing from 2005 and later contributed to the Oxford Genomics Centre (OGC), specializing in NGS library preparation and project management. In 2014, she became the Library Preparation Manager, known for her results-driven and collaborative leadership. Angie's rich experience led her to Operations Management in 2021, focusing on process optimization and operational efficiency at OGC.

Simon Engledow

SIMON ENGLEDOW

Simon Engledow, UK Study Manager, brings more than ten years of project management experience in NGS technologies from the Oxford Genomics Centre, University of Oxford. He gained his Ph.D. from the University of Leeds and held postdoctoral positions at the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick. Simon has a varied background in plant and mammalian cell and molecular biology/biotechnology, combined with employment in both academia and industry, that spans over twenty-five years.

LORNE LONIE

Lorne J. Lonie, Senior Scientist in UK Operations, brings over twenty-five years of experience as a molecular geneticist with more than fifteen years of experience in the NGS field. As a previous member of the Oxford Genomics Centre, he has extensive experience in managing production teams using NGS systems. His profound knowledge of NGS developments has enabled him to excel in delivering high quality data and excellent turnaround times for customers.

Amy Trebes

AMY TREBES

Amy Trebes, UK Lab Services Manager, accrued extensive experience in NGS library preparation workflows and process optimisations as a senior member of the Oxford Genomics Centre before joining GENEWIZ in 2023. She gained her biological sciences master’s degree from University of Leeds and a forensic sciences undergraduate degree from University of Lincoln. Amy oversees processes spanning sample handling, extractions and library preparations at the Oxford lab, leading a team who are passionate about delivering high quality data to our customers.

 

Kim Blackwell

KIM BLACKWELL 

Kim Blackwell, Associate Scientist, brings over six years of experience in the next-generation sequencing space. Since joining GENEWIZ, she has become a key member of the sequencing team, applying her expertise across Illumina sequencing platforms and supporting high-quality data generation for a wide range of customer projects. Prior to this role, Kim completed her undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Portsmouth and worked at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, where she contributed to early-stage research in DNA/RNA and protein sequencing technologies.

 

Han Dinh

HAN DINH

Han Dinh, Associate Scientist, holds a master’s degree in Pharmacology from Nottingham Trent University and a postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics from the Centre for European Master's Programs (CEMP). With extensive experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) methodologies, she has consistently delivered high-quality results and played a key role in enhancing library preparation and quality control workflows within the organization. Han is committed to further expanding her expertise in cutting-edge sequencing technologies and continues to provide exceptional service to GENEWIZ customers in her current role.

Joshua Norwood

JOSHUA NORWOOD

Joshua Norwood, Associate Scientist, gained a master’s degree in molecular biology at the University of Sheffield. He remained at Sheffield to complete a Ph.D. on the interactions between the bacterial pathogen Enterococcus faecalis and the host. During his Ph.D., Josh enjoyed a successful industry placement at APIS Assay Technologies, contributing to the development of in vitro diagnostic tests for human disease. Using his years of experience working with DNA/RNA, Josh is looking forward to providing exemplary service to GENEWIZ customers. ​

 

Marina Ghaly

MARINA GHALY 

Marina Ghaly, Associate Scientist, gained her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Southampton and her master’s degree in forensic science from King's College London. Her thesis project on the validation of a new sequencing kit refined her NGS and problem-solving skills, and she is looking forward to applying her experience to enable the delivery of timely and exemplary results.

Grace Blakeley

GRACE BLAKELEY 

Grace Blakeley, Associate Scientist, has five years of experience in molecular biology and NGS. Following completion of her undergraduate degree in Biology, she continued her studies through a Ph.D. researching embryogenesis in the common house spider Parasteatoda tepidariorum. Utilizing techniques such as single-cell RNA sequencing, Grace was able to identify and characterize new genes that contributed to the evolution and development of this species. Grace is keen to use her experience to provide high quality data to our customers and the timely completion of their projects.

Preethi Vishwanathan

PREETHI VISHWANATHAN 

Preethi Vishwanathan, Associate Scientist, holds a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Nottingham Trent University. During her MSc, she conducted research on genes associated with Alzheimer's disease, gaining hands-on experience in bioinformatics, PCR, and fundamental molecular biology techniques. With a strong laboratory background, she is keen to expand her expertise in cutting-edge sequencing technologies and contribute to delivering exceptional service.

KATIE POCOCK 

Katie Pocock, Associate Scientist, completed an integrated masters degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Birmingham. Following this she gained two years of experience at a forensic service provider, honing DNA extraction, PCR and profiling techniques in a high throughput environment. Katie is excited to build upon and develop these skills to provide a high quality service to GENEWIZ customers.

RICHIE JONES

Richie Jones, NGS Account Manager for Oxford and the southwest, brings half a decade of NGS and customer support experience. With an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and previous technical and support roles at Illumina, he possesses breadth and depth of NGS workflows exceling in finding the best solution for experiments and projects.

Amy Allwood, Sales Director for Northern Europe, brings over fifteen years of industry expertise. She earned her MBA from the University of Sheffield in 2020 and holds an undergraduate degree in human biology from the University of Birmingham. Amy's extensive experience across the life science industry in the UK, Europe, and North America reflects her unwavering commitment to excellence.
